Dmitry Vilensky

(Born 1964, lives and works in St. Petersburg) is an artist, writer, and founding member of Chto Delat?/What is to be done?, a platform of cultural workers initiated in 2003 at the intersection of political theory, art and activism. Vilensky works mainly within a framework of interdisciplinary collective practices in film, photography, text, installation and interventions in the public sphere. He is also an editor of the Chto Delat? newspaper.

“The Lessons of discontent”, Kunsthalle Baden-Baden; „Perestroika: Twenty Years after“, Koelnische Kunstverein; “Between Tragedy and Farce” at SMART project space, Amsterdam in 2011, “The urgent need to struggle”, Galerie Nova, Zagreb and Institute of Contemporary Art, London, 2010;

And presence at major international group exhibition such as:

Vilensky has contributed to many major conferences and is author of texts published widely in art journals and catalogues.
