Ο Γιώργος Κατσαμπέκης σπούδασε Πολιτικές Επιστήμες στο Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης, από όπου και έλαβε το Μεταπτυχιακό του Δίπλωμα Ειδίκευσης στην Πολιτική Ανάλυση το φθινόπωρο του 2009. Είναι υποψήφιος διδάκτορας στο τμήμα Πολιτικών Επιστημών του ΑΠΘ. Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα σχετίζονται με την σύγχρονη πολιτική θεωρία (με έμφαση σε μετα-στρουκτουραλιστικές/μετα-μαρξιστικές προσεγγίσεις), και στην ανάλυση του λόγου, με έμφαση στη μελέτη του λαϊκισμού και της μετα-δημοκρατίας στη σύγχρονη Ελλάδα. Έχει επιμεληθεί το αφιέρωμα στην Σαντάλ Μουφ στην επιθεώρηση πολιτισμού Ένεκεν, τεύχος 19, Ιανουάριος-Μάρτιος 2011, σελ. 58-100, και (σε συνεργασία με τον Γρηγόρη Ανανιάδη και τον Γιάννη Σταυρακάκη) τον θεματικό φάκελο «Λαϊκισμός και Δημοκρατία» στο περιοδικό Σύγχρονα Θέματα, τεύχος 110, Ιούλιος-Σεπτέμβριος 2010, σ. 57-83.  Στις πρόσφατες δημοσιεύσεις του συγκαταλέγονται τα «ΣΥΡΙΖΑ: μερικές σκέψεις με αφορμή τον Δεκέμβρη», Σύγχρονα Θέματα, τεύχος 106, 2009, σ. 9-11˙ «Το αγωνιστικό μοντέλο της Σαντάλ Μουφ», Ένεκεν, τεύχος 19, Ιανουάριος-Μάρτιος 2011, σελ. 58-67˙ και «Populism in post-democratic times», εισήγηση που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στο 61ο  ετήσιο διεθνές συνέδριο της Βρετανικής Εταιρείας Πολιτικών Σπουδών (PSA), 19-21 Απριλίου 2011, Novotel London West. Μεταφράσεις του έχουν δημοσιευτεί σε ελληνικά περιοδικά και στον τύπο.

Giorgos Katsambekis studied Political Science at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, from where he also received his MA degree in Political Analysis in autumn 2009. He is a PhD candidate at the School of Political Sciences of the same university. His research focuses on contemporary political theory (with emphasis on post-structuralist/post-marxist approaches), and on discourse analysis, emphasising on the study of populism and post-democracy in contemporary Greece. He edited the special issue on Chantal Mouffe, in the cultural review Eneken, issue 19, January-March 2011 pp. 58-100 [In Greek], and co-edited (with Grigoris Ananiadis and Yannis Stavrakakis) the thematic dossier “Populism and Democracy”, in Contemporary Issues, issue 110, July-September 2010, pp. 57-83 [In Greek]. His recent publications include “SYRIZA: some thoughts on the occasion of December”, in Contemporary Issues, issue 106, 2009, pp. 9-11 [In Greek], “The agonistic model of Chantal Mouffe”, in Eneken, issue 19, January-March 2010, pp. 58-67 [In Greek],  and “Populism in post-democratic times”, paper to be presented at the 61st annual conference of the Political Studies Association, 19- 21 April 2011, Novotel London West. His translations have been published in journals and in the press in Greece.
