in seiner Arbeit verschmelzen künstlerische Imagination und sozialpolitisches Engagement. Er war Ko-Direktor der sozial engagierten Künstlergruppe „Platform“ (1987-1995), danach Mitbegründer des berüchtigten kulturellen Widerstandskollektivs „Reclaim the Streets“ (1995-2000). Er hat vielfältig über die Bereiche zwischen Kunst und Aktivismus geschrieben und vorgetragen, unter anderem am Museum für Zeitgenössische Kunst in Barcelona und in der Tate Modern in London. 2003 hat er das Buch „We Are Everywhere“ im Verso Verlag mitherausgegeben. Von 1994 bis 2003 war er Senior Lecturer im Fachbereich Kunst an der Sheffield Hallam University. Danach gab er seine akademische Tätigkeit auf, um in Argentinien mit Naomi Klein an dem Film „The Take“ zu arbeiten. Zuletzt hat er die „Clandestine Insurgent Rebel Clown Army“ und das „Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination“ ins Leben gerufen, die vor dem G8-Gipfel in Schottland durch das Vereinigte Königreich tourten.
